Steel Quality & Certificates

Material and conformity

Material identity, thickness programme, traceability and the European standards that frame steel strip sheaths for prestressing tendons.

  1. 01

    Steel quality

Ducts are produced from steel strip released against the order specification. Grade, coating (if any) and coil identity are recorded in the material documentation supplied with the shipment when requested. Uncoated cylindrical steel sheaths are the product family covered by EN 523.

  2. 02

    Steel thickness

Published production thicknesses: 0.40 / 0.45 mm, 0.50 mm and 0.60 mm. Availability depends on diameter. Thickness must be selected from the project specification; it is not a substitute for category or test requirements in EN 523 / EN 524.

  3. 03

    Material certificates

[CMS placeholder] Mill test certificates / material certificates are supplied according to the order. Certificate numbers are not published on this website.

  4. 04

    Production certificates

[CMS placeholder] Production and factory certificates, where applicable, are issued with the order documentation. Do not cite unpublished certificate numbers.

  5. 05

    Traceability

Traceability from incoming coil to finished product is maintained to the extent defined in the quality plan. Marking and delivery-ticket content follow EN 523 documentation requirements when that standard is invoked.

EN 523 / 524 Compliance

Standards & compliance

EN 523:2003 defines terminology, requirements and quality control for uncoated cylindrical corrugated steel sheaths and their couplers. EN 524 specifies the related test methods. Class/category designations used in capacity figures follow the manufacturer’s production classification.

EN 523

Nominal ID ≤ 130 mm

EN 523:2003 — Steel strip sheaths for prestressing tendons — Terminology, requirements, quality control. Scope: uncoated cylindrical corrugated steel sheaths and couplers made from interlocked or welded strip, nominal internal diameter up to 130 mm. Sheaths are classified; publicly described categories include Category 1 (normal) and Category 2 (rigid). Seals between sheaths and couplers are outside the standard’s scope.
